The Real All-Star Teams … At Least My Version of Them

The All Star game is less than two weeks away and the official rosters will be released later on today.  Unfortunately, the All-Star teams are often full of undeserving players, who just get votes because their team’s (usually Yankees and Red Sox) fan-base is huge.  Here are my thoughts on the players that deserve to be there (the batting order is how I think it should be).

AMERICAN LEAGUE — manager Ozzie Guillen — 20 position players, 12 pitchers

  1. RF Ichiro Suzuki
  2. SS Derek Jeter
  3. 1B David Ortiz
  4. LF Manny Ramirez
  5. C Joe Mauer
  6. CF Grady Sizemore
  7. 3B Joe Crede
  8. 2B Jose Lopez
  9. P Justin Verlander

My guess is that these will be nothing like the actual All-Star teams; partly because there has to be at least one player from each team on the final squad, but also partly because Yankees and Red Sox always have the edge over players who are on other teams.

And my prediction for the All-Star game : AMERICAN LEAGUE 10 National League 6
